Inu × Boku SS (妖狐×僕SS Inu Boku Shīkuretto Sābisu^?, lit. The Dog and I Secret Service), also known as Youko x Boku, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Cocoa Fujiwara. An anime adaptation by David Production began airing from January 12, 2012.^[1] The anime has been licensed bySentai Filmworks for streaming, and home video release in North America.^[2]

CHARACTERS:

Ririchiyo Shirakiin (白鬼院 凜々蝶 Shirakiin Ririchiyo^?)

Voiced by: Rina Hidaka

A half-human, half-demon high school girl who transferred to Room 4 of the Ayakashi Mansion in order to live alone. She yearns to be independent and constantly worries about not being able to communicate with other people properly, one of her reasons for moving. Her SS agent and servant is Soushi, a fox spirit she rescued long ago whom she later develops a relationship with. Though she has characteristics of a tsundere, she is actually a tsunshun in terms of personality.

Soushi Miketsukami (御狐神 双熾 Miketsukami Sōshi^?)

Voiced by: Yuichi Nakamura

The assigned SS Agent to Ririchiyo and her servant, Soushi is a half-kitsune whom Ririchiyo helped when she was little. Very calm, polite, and gentle to people, he has a soft spot for his mistress, blindly obeying her and protecting her with his life if the situation calls for it. A notable feature is hisHeterochromia: his left eye is blue, while the other is a dark gold.

Renshou Sorinozuka (反ノ塚 連勝 Sorinozuka Renshō^?)

Voiced by: Yoshimasa Hosoya

An Ittan-momen demon with several tattoos on his tanned skin, he is the tenant of Room 3. He develops a brother-sister relationship with Ririchiyo, also earning Soushi's trust in the process. His SS Agent is Nobara.

Nobara Yukinokouji (雪小路 野ばら Yukinokōji Nobara^?)

Voiced by: Yōko Hikasa

The SS Agent assigned to Renshou, Nobara is a Yuki-onna whose human form is a young woman wearing glasses. She fancies girls and fashion so much that, in her free time, she looks at adult magazines shares them with Renshou. Nobara states that she is attracted to Ririchiyo Shirakin in a sexual way.

Kagerou Shoukiin (青鬼院 蜻蛉 Shōkiin Kagerō^?)

Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita

Tenant of Room 2, Soushi, Banri, and Natsume's former master, and Ririchiyo's fiancée. Shoukin is eccentric, straightforward, and a narcissist, calling the other tenants "pigs" or "animals". His SS agent is Karuta.

Karuta Roromiya (髏々宮 カルタ Roromiya Karuta^?)

Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa

The assigned SS Agent to Shoukin, a Gashadokuro (large skeleton) whose human form depicts her as a light brown haired teenage girl. Though she appears to be "zoned out" most of the time, she's actually very clever and observant and likes tasty food.

Banri Watanuki (渡狸 卍里 Watanuki Banri^?)

Voiced by: Takuya Eguchi

Tenant of Room 1, Banri is a mixed blood Tanuki demon with an impulsive streak and is very outspoken. Labeling himself a "delinquent", he considers Soushi his rival because he called him cute, causing Banri to resent him. His SS agent is Zange.

Zange Natsume (夏目 ざんげ Natsume Zange^?)

Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano

The assigned SS agent to Banri, Zange is a half-human, half-demon wearing a set of black rabbit ears on his head. He is a very cheerful individual, gaining a fondness for Soushi and calling him "Sou-tan" because of this.

Anime

An anime adaptation by David Production began airing in Japan from January 12, 2012 and is being simulcast on Crunchyroll.^[3] The series has been licensed in North America by Sentai Filmworks. The opening theme is "Nirvana" (ニルヴァーナ Niruvāna^?) by Mucc.

Rasuto Eguzairu Gin'yoku no Famu [Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing]

Last Exile (ラストエグザイル Rasuto Eguzairu^?) is a Japanese animated television series created by Gonzo. It featured a production team led by directorKoichi Chigira, character designer Range Murata, and production designer Mahiro Maeda. The three had previously worked together in Blue Submarine No. 6, one of the first CG anime series. Last Exile premiered on TV Tokyo on April 7, 2003 and ran for twenty-six episodes until its conclusion on September 29, 2003.

The story is set on the fictional world of Prester, where its inhabitants use aerial vehicles known as vanships as a means of transportation. On this world which is divided in eternal conflict between the nations of Anatoray and Disith, sky couriers Claus Valca and Lavie Head must deliver a girl who holds the key to uniting the two factions. Although Prester itself is not a representation of Earth,^[1] it features technology reminiscent of nineteenth century Europe at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution. Many of its designs were also inspired by Germany's technological advances during the interwar period.

Last Exile was well received in North America, and the series was licensed for the English language by Geneon Entertainment (then Pioneer Entertainment) in June 2003, two months after the first episode aired in Japan. Funimation Entertainment began licensing the series after Geneon ceased production of its titles. It was also licensed for English releases in the United Kingdom by ADV Films and in Australia by Madman Entertainment. Other published media included two soundtracks, two manga adaptions and artbooks.

Last Exile: Fam, The Silver Wing

Taking place two years after the events of Last Exile, Last Exile: Fam, The Silver Wing is set on Earth, the original home world of the colonists of Prester. The new story focuses on Fam Fan Fan and Giselle Collette, two vespa pilots who work as Sky Pirates where they capture and sell

battleships for a living. Fam and Giselle get into an adventure when they and the Sky Pirates rescue the Princesses of the Turan Kingdom, Liliana il Grazioso Merlo Turan and her younger sister, Millia Il Velch Cutrettola Turan, from the clutches of mighty Ades Federation. Led by Empress Sārā Augusta and Premier Luscinia Hāfez, the Ades Federation is on an all out war against the nations who are descendants of immigrants who came back to Earth by Exile ships. As Ades was the only nation to stay on Earth when the planet was in state of chaos and ruined, Luscinia believes the immigrants of Exile have no right to return to Earth since their ancestors abandoned Earth when it was in chaos only to return when Earth was viable to live on again and force the original inhabitants of Earth off their lands to form their own nations. To return these lands to their original inhabitants, Luscinia leads the Ades Federation to conquer the immigrant nations and destroy their armies with Turan being one of them.

After Luscinia kidnaps Liliana, who has the ability to control an Exile, Luscinia summons an Exile to destroy the capital of Turan, killing its soldiers and the King of Turan, leading to Turan surrendering to Ades. With everything she cared for lost, Millia is given refuge by the Sky Pirates where Fam promises to help Millia regain her kingdom.

Anime

Last Exile premiered in Japan on April 7, 2003, and aired on TV Tokyo until the airing of its final episode on September 29.^[2] A total of 13 DVD compilations were released by Victor Entertainmentbetween July 23, 2003, and July 21, 2004. A complete seven-disc boxed set was released on November 21, 2004. The deluxe edition of this set included a model of Tatiana's and Alister's red vanship, a short story on the fictional Battle of Otranto,^{[Note 4]} unpublished articles on the series, and illustrations by character designer Range Murata.^[29]

After receiving a respectable amount of attention in the United States, Pioneer Entertainment (later Geneon Entertainment) licensed the series in June 2003, two months after the first episode aired in Japan,^[4] and the first compilation DVD was released on November 18.^[30] TechTV premiered the series in English language during its Anime Unleashed programming block on March 8, 2004. The first thirteen episodes aired nightly until March 14,^[31] and remaining episodes premiered on December 6 after channel was merged into G4techTV, with new episodes airing each weeknight until the series concluded on December 22. All 26 episodes were also aired in a marathon broadcast on Christmas Day.^[32] AZN Television and G4 Canada also broadcast the series in 2007.^[33][34] After Geneon ceased distribution of its licensed titles in North America, rights to the series were transferred to Funimation Entertainment,^[4] and a four-disc boxed set was released on May 5, 2009^[35], and again on June 14, 2011, under the "Anime Classics" line.

ADV Films owns the license for the series' English release in the United Kingdom although it is no longer licensed following the parent company's shutdown,^[36] while distribution rights in Australia and New Zealand are owned by Madman Entertainment.^[37] Last Exile is also licensed for regional language release in France,^[38] Germany,^[39] Sweden,^[40] Russia,^[41] and Taiwan.^[42] It has been hosted at the streaming media website Crunchyroll.^[4]

On February 1, 2011, Gonzo revealed that a new Last Exile anime was planned titled Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing- (ラストエグザイル～銀翼のファム～ Rasuto Eguzairu Gin'yoku no Famu^?).^[43]The anime will be "a new series of Last Exile [with] new story, [main] characters, and

mechanical designs." Koichi Chigira, Last Exile's director, will return to direct the anime. Range Murata and Makoto Kobayashi will also return to provide the series with its unique visual style. Music will again be done by Hitomi Kuroishi.^[44]

The new series premiere on October 15, 2011 in Japan and was also simulcasted on the same day in Asia by Animax Asia, making it the fifth anime to be simulcasted the same time as its Japanese premiere on the channel, after Tears to Tiara, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Inuyasha: The Final Act, and Maid Sama!. Funimation Entertainment have licensed the series for streaming and home video release.^[45]

Baka to Test to Shōkanjū [baka and test]

Baka and Test (バカとテストと召喚獣 Baka to Test to Shōkanjū^?, lit. Idiots, Tests, and Summoned Beasts) also known as Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts is a Japanese light novel series created by Kenji Inoue and illustrations by Yui Haga. The first novel in the series was released on January 29, 2007, and as of June 30, 2011, a total of thirteen volumes, including volume 3.5, volume 6.5, volume 7.5, and volume 9.5, have been published by Enterbrain under their Famitsu Bunko publishing imprint. A manga adaptation by Mosuke Mattaku started serialization in the manga magazine Shōnen Ace on April 25, 2009. Another manga adaptation by namo started serialization in the male oriented web comic magazine Famitsu Comic Clear on October 30, 2009. An anime adaptation by Media Factory was announced the same month. A promotional trailer was released for streaming in August 2009.^[1] An anime series adaption began airing on January 7, 2010. Funimation has licensed the anime for release in the United States under the title Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts.^[2] The second season began airing in July 2011.

Plot

The story centers around a boy named Akihisa Yoshii, also known as the idiot or "Baka" of the titled anime. He attends Fumizuki Academy, a school where the staff rigidly divides the students based on the results of their

academic scores. At the start of the school, students are academically sorted by entrance exam test grades. The higher the grades, the higher the class, and the better the benefits. In this case, Class A is filled with the highest-scoring students; therefore, their classroom was filled with many prestigious items (air conditioners, fancy seats, laptops, a free snack bar, etc.), while the state of Class F is the complete opposite of that, representing the "bottom of the barrel" amenities, such as mats and wooden tables. This academy has something special, where all the students manage to call forth Summoned Beings (Shōkanjū, or "Avatars" in the official English translation^[2]). These Beings are used for battles between classes with the goal of capturing (or retaining) the best classroom facilities. Since Class A is filled with prodigies, they all have strong Summoned Beings, while Class F has drastically weak ones in comparison. A teacher must authorize/supervise each battle, and the health and strength of each summoned being is based on the student's last test score in that teacher's subject (i.e. Math, History, etc.). The beings lose points when struck by an opponent, and should the point count reach zero, the being and student are disqualified, and must take supplementary tuition with Nishimura. However, if the student can leave the battle before reaching zero, these points can be replenished by taking a supplemental exam. The student's being may then return to the battle.

On the day of the placement test, an intelligent girl named Mizuki Himeji suffers from a fever and is unable to complete her test, hence her reining in a score of zero. As a result, she is pigeonholed into Class F together with Akihisa Yoshii. Akihisa, who dreams of the day when the academy would no longer be divided by grades, pitches an idea to his class to rule over the higher-level classes by doing a Summoned Being War for both Mizuki's sake and to get more and more privileges. Aside from Mizuki (who happens to be the second-ranked student in Year 2), there is also the class representative Yūji Sakamoto, the bishōnen Hideyoshi Kinoshita, the perverted Kota Tsuchiya, and the tomboyish Minami Shimada (who, as Akihisa claims, is his worst enemy, but actually has a crush on him, but is reluctant to show it).

Anime

A 13-episode anime adaptation produced by the animation studio Silver Link and directed by Shin Ōnuma^[3] aired in Japan between January 7 and March 31, 2010. On March 4, 2010, Funimation Entertainment announced that it had acquired the anime and streamed simulcast subtitled episodes days after they aired in Japan under the title Baka and Test – Summon the Beasts. Two OVA episodes under the title Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: Matsuri.^[4] were released in two BD/DVD volumes: the first on February 23, 2011 and the second on March 30, 2011. Both OVA come with 2-3 different ending sequences. A second anime season under the title Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Ni! began airing in Japan in July 2011.

The first anime season had three pieces of theme music: one opening theme and two ending themes. The opening theme is "Perfect-area Complete!" byNatsuko Aso, composed by Kenichi Maeyamada. The first ending theme is "Baka Go Home" by Milktub and BakaTest All Stars. The second ending theme is "Hare Tokidoki Egao" by Hitomi Harada, Kaori Mizuhashi, Emiri Katou and Tomomi Isomura. The Matsuri OVAs had one opening theme and one ending theme. The

opening theme is "Ren'ai Kōjō Committee" (恋愛向上committee^?) by Natsuko Aso, and the ending theme is "Getsuyō wa Kirai" (月曜はキライ^?)by Milktub. The second anime season has one opening theme and one ending theme. The opening theme is "Kimi+Nazo+Watashi de Jump!!" (君+謎+私でJUMP!!^?) by Larval Stage Planning, made up of I've Sound singers Airi Kirishima, Nami Maisaki, and Rin Asami. The ending theme is "Eureka Baby" (エウレカベイビー^?) by Natsuko Aso. Funimation has also licensed the second season and the Matsuri OVA's, as with the first, they will simulcast the second series, followed by a Blu-ray and DVD release in 2012 .^[5]

The series made its North American television debut on August 1, 2011 on the Funimation Channel.^[6]
